    Streaming Internet TV Options

Okay, this is twofold. I'll start by saying we are tired of paying for cable, and are looking for options to watch TV both at home and on the road. We are exploring streaming TV as an option to cable and satellite TV. One of the options I'm looking at is DirectTV Now. It looks like when comparing them to Netflix and some of the other streamers, they have the best bang for the buck. If what I was told is true, I can stream from anywhere and get my local channels (Las Vegas affiliates) wherever I am, assuming a decent internet connection. Our objective is to be able to watch current season TV shows with the ability to perhaps watch some on demand shows if nothing else interesting is on, and occasionally watch a contemporary movie. We're somewhat tech savvy, but get lost if it becomes too complex. Any advice or insight is appreciated.

Along with that, what equipment is required for the different options. As an example, the Samsung smart TV we have in the living room at home is an older model. So it looks like I'll need to buy a Roku device to watch DirectTV Now at home, but we have a new Samsung smart TV in the RV. What about the other (OEM) TV's in the RV.

    Help...

We have found very, very few rv parks or resorts that have enough bandwidth or updated equipment to allow streaming. You can use data from your cell phone plan/provider or many rv'ers get a satellite dish.

Hulu at home. It is much better than DirecTV Now. Dish on the road with a month at a time RV plan.

Maybe consider a Kodi type device? Probably will need an app for the local stations (assuming they have one) but those boxes provide feeds from the East and West coast feeds so you can see the major networks easily. Not sure how well they work, but it's an option not often mentioned.

We have 2 Stick and Brick homes and the RV. We have dish TV at all 3.

For the 2nd home dish installed a Satellite Dish and wired 3 bedrooms and family room with coax in the Second home for free. They call it “Snowbird” plan. We bring our Receivers with us when we go to the second weekend, vacation ranch/house. Nothing is needed to activate when they are moved. The Hopper receiver is also a DVR and 2 other Joey receivers for bedrooms.

For the RV we have a Dish Winegard Pathway X2 and a pair of Wally receivers. When we go on a trip we call dish and they activate the receivers for $7/mo each, prorated. After a trip we call and they deactivate them and cancel the $7/mo charge.

At both S&B homes we have internet so in addition to watching live TV we can stream on demand major networks, Showtime and Netflix through the Dish account, and Amazon Prime through an Apple TV box.

This has been working very well for us.

Hulu is one of the streaming services we are considering, but we are leaning more toward DirecTV Now. Curious why you feel Hulu is much better than DTN?

Sounds like you've got THE setup! Thanks for all the information, but we were kinda leaning away from satellite. At least for the time being anyway.
