    Dually to Super Single conversion?

    Hi all, looking to get more usage out of my DRW, especially in the winter/sandy/muddy environments and came across the "Super Single" conversion option. For those that don't know what that is, it's basically replacing the wheels and tires of a dually with a wheel/tire combination that allows for correct front to rear tire alignment in a SRW configuration. Here is the company, and they do a much better job of explainaing what I am wanting to do, that I am looking at currenlty. The Stage 1 is what I am most likely going to do for now.

    https://www.dbldesign.com/severe-duty-conversion/

    With this wheel/tire combination, I actually increase the tire capacity for the current G series on the F450, by using their Mil-Spec wheels and tires.

    So my questions are;

    1. Does anyone have real-world experience with this conversion and what was the good, bad or ugly?
    2. What are your thoughts on if this would decrease the rear side to side stability of the dually (going from 2 to 1 rear wheels, keep in mind that the tire width on the 2 rear today would be similar or less than the "Super Single" 12'/15"+ width and with very stiff sidewalls)

    What I am hoping to get out of this is;
    1. The ability to traverse snow, sand, and mud that is all but impossible today
    2. The ability to take the vehicle "off-road" (knowing its nothing like my lifted/customized Jeep JKU, but will allow back roads and hunting trail usage)
    3. Increase the comfort of the unloaded ride, by running lower air

    Anyway, I appreciate any knowledge you can pass along :-)

    Many thanks!

    Looks cool - but good luck towing a fifth wheel with those lifts.

    Hmm, that only fits 550 or above I believe, or at least the link provided said that. I didn't research anymore as in my 3500 regular cab dually will go anywhere I needed accordingly. I'm more of don't care about looks anymore, but reliability and what it was made to fit with type of thing. I think my lil 3500 dually will get me where ever I need as long as i'm smart while driving on the road conditions i'm in.

    They only use 2.5" lift to allow for front wheel turning radius, I sit about that low when hitched and was thinking of adding airbags not long ago to level out, but this may solve that too)

    On the first page it calls out 450/550 (as well as some Dodge trucks) IIRC. I'm not concerned about the looks, although it does look nice, but more about the ability to use my truck for more than just a street tower(sp). Have you had the occasion to go in deep (6"+) snow or on the beach in soft sand, with or without being hitched up? I've passed up oppertunities to camp in both conditions due to everyone saying that Duallys do not do well in either of those conditions.

    Looked at a kit for my HDT and the general consensus was they are terrible in the snow and off road conditions

    Thanks Crazybanshee. while not quite the same as my F450, LOL, you run tall skinny "on the road" tires (mine are Conti 19.5" HSR/HDR from the factory) and your pic shows you in sand. How does it handle in the sand/snow without the 5er attached? Maybe I'm just worring about nothing here...

    I drove my 1999 Dodge drw in the snow in Montana 10+ yrs and never had a problem (but it did have lockers all the way around) Lived at 6000 ft 21% grade 500 ft in a 1/4 mile, with a s bend ( could not get a run at it). drove almost everyday.
