    12v receptacle alternatives

If we ignore the 12v cigarette lighter adapter, what other receptacle choices are there? I'd like it to handle more than 10amps, but don't need more than maybe 15 to 20 amps.

Outlet will be placed on the hutch in a 29rs 5er. The main electrical panel is in the same hutch and would be the source of the 12v power. Likely usage would be to power an inverter that would power a flat screen tv, blu ray or Roku, and maybe 2-3 (or less) fans.

Do you think a cig adapter can safely be pushed more than 10 amps?

Ideas and web links would be appreciated.

    Mike

Might look at XT60 (or XT90, the 90A version) connectors. They're used all over the place in RC/Drone hobbies. Small, reliable, easy to use. Handles 60A, but requires soldering.

    15A probably for cigarette outlet.

Another idea for higher amps is:
Panel Mount Housing for Two Anderson Powerpole Connectors

edit: I'd played with an inverter for my truck a few weeks ago.
Put ~288 watts (2.4A @ 120VAC) load on the inverter, it pulled 26.75A DC.

In the 337 there are extra DC fused connections available in the main electrical panel. Why not wire diectly to the panel as all other connections will be AC...

I found some power point plugs rated for 15 amp. Do a search.

Thanks to all. I found some cig adapters rated 15 amp on Amazon. I'm going to install one on the hutch and see how it does. Power for that will come from fuse/breaker panel right below it. I'm also installing one on each side of the bed for a new to my life cpap machine. Power for those will come from the battery bay. (both sides bec I don't know which side of the bed will work out better) Also installing 120v outlets on each side which I'll power by an inverter in the battery bay. This way, when we boondock I'll have options.

    Thanks again

Resistance is Not Futile, It's Voltage Divided by Current.

The 60A of your inverter/charger is rated to pass that many amps, but the wires connecting to it's DC and AC terminals have to be big enough to handle that many amps.

Each circuit off the DC panel or the AC panel has lower rated fuses or circuit breakers sized for the wires attached to them and the expected amp load.
Typically 14 Awg for most of the 120VAC and 14 Awg for the DC circuits, so 15A fuses or circuit breakers for those.
The larger 12 Awg and 10 Awg wires use larger fuses and circuit breakers.
