As you can see from my pics, I did that today. I am a woman and have small hands, could not get to the faucet nuts to tighten. Luckily it did not need tightening but I just wondered if it did. Would have to get a wrench up there to turn it. As to the black tank back flow preventer valve, I just learned of this and will order the part to have on hand it seems fine now. But you did not put in a new valve, just a 90 degree elbow?

Just an elbow. These cheap valve cause a lot of issues.
I know, it is to prevent a “back flow” to your water hose. I don’t not shut the waste valve when flushing out the black tank, so it should never back up. This was the way I did my last 2 fiver’s, or the last 20 some years.
It was a tight fit for my hands. I had enough slack with the lines to pull it up a little. It was a pita also

Beachcamper,
Where in Florida are you located. Perhaps we can recommend a shop.

I am on Chokoloskee Island which is pretty remote. For now, I will leave it alone as no water is showing up anywhere so that dripping noise is a mystery. Have a mobile tech coming to replace a valve and stuck cable so will see what happens when he drops the underbelly.

Hi Beachcamper,
A few thoughts on this . . .
Eliminating the black tank flush vacuum break creates an uninterrupted connection between your sewage tank and the campground potable water supply. There are check valve alternatives for this, but a simple elbow should not be considered as a viable solution.
Hearing dripping water but not finding any puddles is very curious. You may want to install water alarms to monitor for this. See post 5 of this thread. https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...t=water+alarms
The soft hose connections to your shower are leaks waiting to happen. If you are going to get into this, changing to Pex tubing as a permanent solution would be worth consideration. See the attachment to post 1 and the subsequent discussion on this thread. https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...105#post134105

Rob, I will definitely get the water alarms. I am OCD and constantly look behind drawer at hutch and have the baggage wall easy to open to look behind the Nautilus panel and check water pump. The alarms will be a welcome respite from that task. I saw that the hoses are not pex hoses, but what a job that would be to switch them out. Maybe get the right fitting for the hose or at least have it on hand should they start leaking. I downloaded a PDF on the file section showing which brass fitting to get for those hoses.

Wow, Chokoloskee is pretty remote. Loved flying into Everglades City Airport, loading up with Stone Crabs and flying back home. Nice short airstrip with water on both ends.

There are back flow preventers that can be attached to the hose before connecting to the black tank flush fitting. On my unit it is a separate connection on the panel for the black tank flush. If you delete the unit in the trailer adding one to the hose will make things safe again.

Another way to do this is to plumb a spring loaded check valve into the black tank flush line inside the panel. The larger versions of these work better, so a 1" check valve with bushings down to the 1/2" line size would be a good choice. https://www.zoro.com/zoro-select-spr...y3/i/G0689823/
Note that removing the "black tank flush vacuum break valve located above the rim of the toilet bowl" puts you in contravention of RVIA requirements . . . for whatever that is worth .
