    Water drip at shower

In my 2018 303 I just started noticing that when the water is turned on in the shower, I hear a drip behind the panel where the faucet is at. No dripping sound when water is off. There is a washcloth bar with 4 screws to remove this panel. Anyone have this issue before? I don’t want to break the seal of the panel if there is another access area I don’t know about.

No other access to the fittings. If the valve handles and plate does not come off then you will have to remove the towel holder. Also while you are in there , there is a vacuum breaker for the black tank flush make sure it is ok as well.

    Also welcome to the group.

Hi Beachcamper - the panel under the faucets is the only access. But . . . I can’t imagine what kind of leak would happen behind the wall, only when the faucets are turned on . Is there water accumulating below this, between the water heater and the furnace? You should be able to see this area by pulling the drawers from the buffet.

Our 16 303 had the same type of leak when the shower was turned on. The cross pipe between the hot and cold controls had a crack in it. Ended up leaking on to the furnace controller board which then failed. Besides hearing the leak, we also saw dripping from the coroplast.

Hi Dennis - I never thought of that failure mode . . . that would explain what Beachcamper is dealing with.

    Thanks

The dripping sound only happens when I turn on the hot and cold handles in the shower faucet. I hope it is just that something has come loose in there. On the Facebook 303 group, it was confirmed that I can access that through the towel bar panel and check without issues and that the seal is just silicone. I looked behind the drawer in the hutch and all is dry, so where does the water accumulate when there is a drip in this area? I would hate to have water pooling at shower floor.

Also, what is this vacuum breaker for the black tank flush and how to tell if it is not functioning or defective? This rig is just a year old, can’t imagine that failing so quickly? I will search on here for more info on that. If it was defective, where does one purchase a new one and is this something that I can do myself or have to get a mobile tech to install. We are fulltime and can’t run to dealer unless it’s a big issue.

The vacuum breaker is there to let the water flow to the tank and back out the hose connection when you turn the water off and disconnect the hose after using the black tank flush. All it is is a 90 degree fitting with a spring loaded plunger. When you put water pressure to it the plunger raises and allows water to pass to the tank. These sometimes put out a little spritz of water. My previous TT had this in a small cupboard, after using it for about a year we started noticing stuff in the cupboard getting wet. After investigating I found this vacuum breaker and it was leaking every time I used it. I took this POS out and put a regular elbow in its place, no more leak.
Underneath the shower in the pass thru is the furnace, if your are small and very flexible you may be able to see up into the space behind the shower. This area around the furnace is likely where you may find that the water is dripping to. Hopefully not under the shower on the bathroom floor.

Just fixed the same problem. Our access panel is at the back of the pantry. We had three loose fittings and it also leaked from the back of the fixture where it is attached to the shower wall. I tightened all fixtures and placed a small blob of plumbers' putty behind the shower outlet. I also resealed the fixture.

I wish the 303 had easier access to this area but regrettably not. No indication of any leaks or wet area behind the drawer in the pantry. Don't understand where that dripping sound is coming from when I turn on the faucet. Speaking of that, has anyone tried to remove that faucet? How would I even tighten those nuts? I can't get my small hands anywhere near the area.

    Beach camper,
I have a 18 303. On my shower faucet, it is on a plastic plate with 4 screws. Remove the screws and you should have enough room to get a hand in there. I did on mine. In fact, I took the faucet loose, and remove the black tank back flow preventer valve and replaced that valve with a 90 degree elbow as they are known to leak.
Unless GD change this, you should have the same access.
