    Hitch Recomendation

Sorry to start another of what seems like endless threads on hitches and such. I probably could find the answer elsewhere but wanted some opinions specific to my set up.

Just bought a 2019 GMC 3500 Denali. It has the fifth wheel prep in the bed of the truck.

Although I think I will be buying a Reflection 29 RS (have to sell my Class A first), I wanted to get opinions on hitches. Some dude over in IRV2 forums said you couldn't use an AUH with the rotating pins on Grand Design fifth wheels unless you fixed the pin in one unmovable position.

Is this correct? I really like the idea of the AUH simply due to the weight.

A 29RS does not use a rotating pin box.

He is correct, though. On the 150 Series you have to lock out the rotating part to use them.

Oh gotcha. For whatever reason I thought they did use that pin box. Thanks for the clarification.

I wouldn't see why not. It's just a standard pinbox.

Long-bed or short? If long, the B&W companion (non-slider) for the puck systems is very nice and quite easy to handle as two separate pieces (head & base).

The Anderson Ultimate Hitch is a no brainer for those close to weight limits and trucks dealing with bed length. I started to buy this hitch, but realized the RV I wanted just was too big for the Titan XD and bought a Ram 3500. I did not want to deal with numbers and wanted something I knew could pretty much pull anything.

Either way, the AUH is the way to save payload and other things

If a short bed - I now have a Demco autoslider in my F350 CCSB. Works great and I love not having to worry about where the unit is in relation to the cab - it just happens. I have also used the AUH in both my F350 and my previous 15 2500HD. For weight savings and ease of removal it is a great option... especially if you aren't interested in swapping out the pinbox. Very quiet in tow as well. Note however that even with the offsets it can be possible to hit the cab in the right situation (something like backing downhill on a tight corner into a flat spot at night with kids screaming) - you just need to know the limitations. The only thing I didn't like about the AUH is how much angle I had to get the trailer to get it on/off hitch with the new F350, but overall a solid hitch.

if a LB, then take a hard look at a fixed B&W.
