Where were you 33 years ago today?

In high school. Not sure which class. I remember walking past the windows overlooking the school pool in a daze.

At work at a pipeline station in Black Hawk, Mississippi. My wife called me and I headed home to see what happened.

I was at work at the Travis County Appraisal District in Austin, TX. We all got together in the conference room to watch the launch (computer nerds back then) and we stayed there most of the day. Our chief appraiser canceled all scheduled appraisal hearings and sent everyone home early.

I was in 10th grade History class and we were watching the launch live. I remember thinking that the launch (after the explosion) didn't look right and when we started listening to the broadcast it was mentioned that the shuttle had exploded. We sat there in silence for the rest of the class trying to make sense of what we saw and, for me, trying to understand how the family of the teacher felt watching it live. Sad day for NASA, their families, and the country.

I was working inside Sears, at the key shop, right across from the TV's. I watched it happen. Pre USAF by 6 years!

I was in the cafeteria in HS when the principal made an announcement and pushed it out to the TV's. Shortly before this disaster, I was at Cape Canaveral with my family taking a tour and soaking up the info. The whole shuttle program was pretty cool to me.

I was an assistant manager at an Ames Dept. store in Oxford, PA. I was in the TV aisle when it happened. One of those things in life you remember forever. When Columbia exploded Feb 1, 2003, I was a Lieutenant in the NY State Police but off duty at home working in my barn repairing my diesel tractor.

I was home from college. I was in my third year and had a couple tough tests and could always prepare better at my parents house. I was watching live as it went down. Was absolutely horrified and spent the rest of the day glued to the set.

I was managing a plastic molding operation in Baldwin Park CA and I got a page to the VP's office. I knew something was up as that had never happened. He had a TV in his office with it on. I was shocked and horrified for those poor families.
