Leaf Spring Vs. Air Ride Imagine 2970/ F150
Hello all, I’m new to this site and we are already getting so much needed help, thank youz all.
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on suspension aids.
Do I go with helper springs or air ride kit?
I drive my truck all day for work, we go out on 6-7 trips a year, live in Canada, Ottawa, harsh winters. I’m using the blue ox weight distribution system already but I need to come up about 2” still to level off. My truck has a 4” lift kit installed.

All feedback would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Hi James,
There has been a whole lot of suspension discussion on this forum! You can find this with related words in the search tool in the upper right corner. A good thread to start with is https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...-Batman!/page7 Lifting the trailer 2" without upsetting the very basic leaf spring and equalizer tandem suspension would best be done with spacers between the frame and the spring hangers. There are lots of more sophisticated alternatives. Be sure to read the analysis by Pat Wardell (Gyro Gearloose) of how we are all already screwed up by the industry change from underslung to overslung axles to get additional ride height. . There are also some Imagines having tire to body clearance problems with the OE suspension. Do you have 3500 lb or 4400 lb axles?

J,
Are you aware that Blue Ox makes different size ball mounts? There's versions with 11 holes of adjustment (10") and one with 9 holes (12") along with many other options. Will one of them get you level? (If I'm understanding your scenario accurately, that is...)

I know the adjustment you’re referring to, my dealer measured it out upon delivery and said this was where it needs to be,...again, it was the dealer, they seem to know (ish) what they’re talking about, but as I’m growing up in all this you may be onto something. So, if I’m hearing you, I can try to heighten the ball on the hitch ...good place to start. Trailer buried in snow in storage, I’ll need to wait til May I guess. My thought was that the suspension was tapped out, in fact the pin weight says 795lbs...thanks Howard

Post #33 in the thread may be the most helpful or possibly the thread will convince you of my OCD nature...2017 Ford F-350 DRW 6.7L Platinum
