Instapot!!!!
Hi Ya'll. The Mrs. just bought a Instapot so now I have to see how its gonna work in the RV. Can someone tell me about the electrical load and what type of inverter set up they have to accommodate the 1000 watt rating?
I have not converted our '17 315 RLTS to an inverter system yet, but am weighing the endless possibilities, with an eye towards eventual solar charging. Were you able to just plug the Instapot into any outlet once you installed a permanent inverter system?
Thank you.

1000 watts will work out to about 8 Amps, that is AC though. When you're running through an inverter it will most likely pull more, probably closer to 80 Amps. I'm sure those that have solar setups or boondock could validate this though.

Unless you're hooked up to camp power, I would suggest forgetting the Instapot.
We've been using our new greaseless fryer and popping circuits when someone uses the microwave. The tabletop ice machine is also on the same circuit.

That's about the same amount of wattage as your microwave except that Instapots are not instant. They pull high amps for long periods of time. Not impossible, but it will require a lot of battery.
1000 watts is 120 (the volts) x 8.33 (AC amps); divide by .8 and that's DC watts.
The result is 1250 DC watts. Divide by 12 and you have 104.16 12V DC amps.
100+ amps per hour is going to hit your batteries like a ton of bricks.

I see. I'd have to have a Battleborn 100amp lithium just for the instapot! At what, $980? That's an expensive roasted chicken!! Keep the ideas coming folks!

If you want to pressure cook while dry camping they still do sell pressure cookers you use on the stovetop. (we keep one in the trailer) Some people think they are not safe but been using one for years with no explosions!! I've used both ele and stovetop and the only difference is the ele can go to a keep warm setting after the pressure drops if you aren't around , cook time is really no different from stovetop vs ele.

Nooo..... I don't think we'll be using a pressure cooker type from the 60's. Im sure the dog would run when it starts blowing and rattlin'! He already doesn't like the washer/dryer, or my cpap mask when air blows out of it......

$$$$ on batteries, $$$ on generator, $ gas pressure cooker, or forget it. Your basic options.
