Should I trade In our Imagine 2800BH for 3170BH
In hindsight I wish we would’ve purchased the 3170 from the beginning. After a good year of use we figured out it’s a touch too small with two kids, the dog and friends. My question is has anybody done something similar? The dealership is really low balling me on the trade In and are willing to bargain much Any other trailer floorplans similar to the 3170 we should consider?

Some have traded in as little as 6 months. Yes you probably will take a hit on the money. Decision is up to you and your situation.
Good luck

Ya we’ll have to punch the numbers and see if it’s worth it. Anyone in here own a 3170?

Not sure what tow vehicle you have, but the 312BHTS is only 1500lbs more (GVWR). This is what the Keep Your Daydream YouTube couple bought for their crew.

I have a 2018 Ram 3500, pulling won’t be an issue. As far as the reflection goes that would be my trailer of choice but it’s a bit more than we want to spend.

I traded my 3 month old 2017 2800BH for a 2017 Reflection 337RLS. I had negotiated the original purchase of my 2800BH real hard and arrived at about 33% off MSRP ($25,193 plus $499 fee plus tax). I took a $3,000 depreciation hit on the trade. I bought the Reflection at a 28% discount ($45,000 plus $499 fee and tax on difference)

So here’s the background and the current numbers I’m battling with. We bought the trailer in Feb 2018 for $34,000 ish. We put down $15,000 and ended up financing $19,000. We currently owe $17,400 or so. They offered us originally $22,000 Trade in but after bargaining they came up to $24,500 and waived the taxes because it’s a trade in? Equals around 2k. So In total we would have $26,500 which rough math to me is we’re out 6k from the money we put down? The 3170Bh is listed for $43,000 and they dropped it to $39,990. They absolutely won’t budge anymore so they say. How does this all sound to you guys? Go with it? Bargain more? Anything I’m missing or miss calculating?

There’s no way I’d pay 40k on an Imagine anything. I coulda had a Reflection 315 for that at South Haven RV in Mississippi.

First year depreciation is steep, but if my math is right you're looking at a ~28% hit? That's a lot IMO.
They aren't "waiving" the taxes--that's the way the law works when trading in a vehicle (at least in every state where I've done it). Tax is only paid on the difference between the new vehicle and trade in. That's the advantage of trading in versus private sale. You may sell your used trailer privately for more, but then you have to pay tax on the full price of the new trailer. Whether the ultimate difference (in $$) is worth the time and effort to sell privately or you want the convenience of trade in is a personal choice.

I'm with these guys ^^^^. For that kind of money you are in Reflection territory. Call another dealer if possible and don't be afraid of a road trip if it is worth it.
