    CAT scale weights

we just ordered our 367bhs and I bought a 2019 F350 SRW as well. Didn't want a dually with all the big cities and parking garages we travel to. Obviously the diesel trucks can easily pull the weight but why is everyone on here so concerned about CAT scale readings?

I suspect most people here who use CAT scales want to make sure they aren't exceeding their RV's GVWR or their truck's payload rating. The rest are probably just curious.

BTW, I really didn't want a DRW either but if I had kept my 3500 SRW, my 5th wheel would have exceeded the payload rating of that truck.

Another reason we use the cat scales is for distribution of loads. I like to know that each axel is carrying close to the same weight , knowing each tire weight is good also so you do not have one tire overloaded, these are for trailer axels. As Brian has stated above the truck payload should not be exceeded or exceeded very little as well as the rear axel weight of the truck. These weights are important for safety of you the owner as well as others traveling down the road.

I can only speak for myself. (Side note--funny that "Take it to the Limit" by the Eagles is playing on Pandora as I type this.) My assumption is the limits are set by the engineers for a reason. Safety is the primary consideration, both for myself and for those who are around me. I know there are many, many thoughts on this subject but I want to know (not guess) my rig's configuration compared to those limits. Thus the need for a CAT scale.

I hope that makes some sense--by no means am I claiming "moral high ground" or any other such nonsense. Just trying to convey why I do what I do.

all of this help. Guess I will weigh it so I know. I tried to do enough research based on tongue weights of the 367bhs that I would be ok in the 350SRW +/- a couple hundred pounds. I did already put Firestone airbags on to help level it

Yes the modern diesel isn't phased too much by most trailers... you can feel them but the truck pulls like a champ. The issue is really the vertical weight applied to the truck and also to the trailer axles. It isn't all that hard to get a SRW F350 up to the 11500# GVWR by the time you load four people in the cab, a fifth-wheel hitch (AUH can save weight here), and the trailer pin-weight. I couldn't go bigger than the 28BH due to the GVWR of the truck (which I did not want to exceed). I fretted about it quite a bit while I was waiting for my truck. Luckily a couple of trips to the CAT scales have confirmed all is well.

I have not bought our trailer yet so I have never been to a CAT scale what does it cost at the scale to go through the process to find out all the axles weights and how much time.

    Thanks

I think it costs about ten bucks. It took me about one minute to weight the truck/RV and another five minutes to go inside and pay and get the slip.

Yes, 3 scales: truck front, truck rear, trailer.
I do 2 sets of weights at the scale. As above attached and again detached. All the info results in this..
