Drain for Splendide Washer -- Installed in 315RLTS!

First, let me answer the "why?" question. The washing machine hoses have residual water in them and there are times where a significant amount of time may pass between usage. I don't want to have to remove the hoses to drain them. This is my solution to that, um, "problem". I have little doubt some here will think I've lost my mind. (Can't lose what you don't have?)

PARTS USED
Nothing cosmic in the configuration--the drain is made up of 3/4" NPT male "T"s for the 4' stainless steel hoses and 3/4" female NPT to 1/2" PEX adapters. At the end of the PEX lines are shutoff valves that match what I've added to trailer's other drain lines. In addition I added an alarm with a powered shutoff valve in case of a water leak. (I tested it--it works.)


The Drain
This first picture shows the PEX portion of the drain.


As you can see, it comes down through the floor of the closet behind the washing machine (near the Nautilus panel). I had considered putting the drain lines through the existing hole behind the Nautilus, but it's a rats nest back there and too tight.



These are the "T"s in the back left corner of the closet (street side). You can't see the PEX lines as they go straight down through the floor. If you look closely you'll identify the adapters in the back corner. I had to cut off one of the tabs on the back adapter to get everything to seat flush with the floor. The alarm sensor is wrapped in a seat belt cushion (previously used with the washer's straps). The hope is the cushion will soak if there's a leak and set off the alarm.



Hard to capture the whole setup with the washer installed--this is about as good as I could get. The alarm box itself is secured to the wall above the power outlet. I also added part of a seat belt cushion between the washer and the powered shutoff valve just in case the two rub when the washer is in it's spin cycle.



Now when I want to drain the lines it is as easy as opening the outside valves and letting gravity do its thing.

Don't worry--I won't be offended if there are comments questioning my sanity or the validity of this mod.

I think your sanity is fine (maybe). You seem to be setting this rig up for your future use and your craftsmanship is outstanding along with the documentation.
The plumbing does make me chuckle though, I remember hearing how much you like plumbing.

Looks like a good mod you came up with there. My only suggestion or concern would be if you do any winter camping below freezing. If you do, it might be worthwhile to move those valves up to the heated convenience center where your other water connections are, and then extend the drain lines out the bottom as you already did. Currently, you will have a slug of water in those drain lines which are sure to freeze in the right conditions.

You automatic water shut off leak detector setup is also a great idea that could probably be adapted to the city water main connection inlet for people who leave their RV with city water still pressurized (I know that is a common thing to see). Personally, I like how @Cate&Rob added the electric solenoid and wired it to the hot water heater switch (I know, a little off topic, sorry!).

Nice work. I guess the mod makes sense if you don't use the washer that often or don't full time. Seeing that washer in a 315 makes me wonder--how bad does it shake your trailer? I've got it in a 337 5th wheel with leveling jacks, and it still shakes us pretty good.

I bought a stabilizer. It makes a big difference, it does not stop all shaking but does dramatically reduce it.

I saw these on a 315 at a park in Georgia but never ran into the owner. Thanks for the link.

Nice mod! Happy with the Splendide units so far? My wife and I are considering them now.
