You should be able to tell, if you have 6 lug wheels it is ok, 5 lug and not good. Cudos to GD for changing my out under warrant.
They are replacing mine right now with more 3500lb axles.....? They said dexter made our original 3500lb ones with 2.5” bar, now it’s 3”......

    I’m now concerned.....

Yeah, they tried to tell me that they changed some components and that was why I had 3500lb axles. I told them I wanted to upgrade to the 4400lb axles like all the other 2019's and I would pay the difference. They said they couldn't let me pay because it was warranty. I stuck to my guns and they went ahead a replaced with the 4400lb under warranty. The good thing is they had to give me new wheels and tires due to 6 lug on 4400lb vice 5 lug on the 3500lb.

Well I checked and I do have 6 lug wheels. Didn't get down in the snow to look at the axle tags but 6 lug has to be 4400lb. Can't believe they would put underrated axles under these. The GVW is almost a 1000lb over the combined rating of two 3500lb axles. Glad I don't have to deal with that issue.

UPDATE: Went by the shop today, and my “new” Dexter 3500lb axles are on the rig. Take a look at the difference in axle diameter on the new ones as compared to the old axles.... this matches what Grand Design said with the original axles being made with the wrong tubes. I would probably rather have the 4400lb axles but I’m willing to give this a try, they look more in-line with what I’ve seen on other trailers this weight class.

I also had the 3500 lb smaller axle tubes and GD told me that was wrong because of the newer style slide out, they went to the bigger axles. My first time out with the 2.5” axles, was a 4 hour ride, camped for a few days and back and this was the maiden voyage. Well the axles were bent when I got back which is what prompted us to get in touch and GD replaced them with 3500 lb axles with 3” tubes. Mine is a 2019 GD 2800 BH. I tried as well to get them to put on the 4400 lb axles but they went the tube route instead. Have not have it out on a long trip since but several short trips. Question for you guys...has anyone had issues with porpoising with this model? Ive got the Blue Ox hitch and a 2.5” 7 hole drop. My TV is a 2011 Ford F250 with airbags and powerstroke.
