    Chattanooga, TN recommendations?

Any recommendations around Chattanooga, TN? Looking to take the family down and visit the aquarium, etc around Chattanooga. I just ran across Racoon Mountain Caverns & Campground online - looks decent and son may like the caverns. Thoughts?

We've stayed at Racoon mountain a couple of time and it's a fairly nice campground. The entrance to the caverns in on their property and you can walk from your camper to the gift shop/caverns entrance is a couple of minutes. Facilities are clean and there are plenty of things to do in Chattanooga, from biking, hiking, the Aquarium, etc. The last time we stay in Chattanooga, we stayed at Best Holiday Trav-L park. It is a very nice park and the location was ideal for what we needed that trip.....closer to where my Son-in-Law was going to be when he participated in an Ultra Marathon.....100 mile marathon run through the mountains of North Georgia. That one is located just inside the GA state line and is located right off of Exit 1 of I-75.

We always stayed at Holiday Travel Park Of Chattanooga. For us it's convenient and easy to get into and out of.

Have stayed at Chattanooga West KOA twice in nearby Trenton, Georgia. Nice campground but a bit of a drive from downtown. Chattanooga is a great town for being outdoors. Very well known for hiking trails and is considered “Colorado East” by the trail running community. Also if you appreciate historical sites plan to visit the two National Military Parks at Lookout Mountain and Chickamauga. Some important civil war battles were fought in the area. These were two of the first National Military Parks established in the 1890’s so Civil War veterans assisted in the development of the sites so the location of the markers are considered to be very accurate. Great destination have fun!

Most of our camping trips are weekend visits to state parks. If that's the type of camping you're into, there are a few parks with campgrounds near Chattanooga that you might check into:
    - Chester Frost Park (Hamilton County, TN)
    - Harrison Bay State Park (Tennessee)
    - Cloudland Canyon State Park (Georgia)

We live about 30 miles south of downtown Chattanooga, so feel free to message if you have questions that we might be able to help you with.

X2 on Chester Frost Park. We've used it several times when visiting our son and DIL (when they lived in 'Nooga). It's 50 amp and water - but no sewer. Beautiful, though - on a peninsula/island in the lake.

We found Harrison Bay SP to be a bit tight for our 40' 5th wheel. We hosted at Cloudland Canyon State Park on summer and had an excellent time. It was about a 30 minute ride into town, but then that's about the same time/distance most of the RV parks also.
