I stayed at a Casino one time and have noticed at least in Washington/Oregon that RV rigs are parked in the lot. The one I stayed at was free but you do have to go inside and register. No hook ups, just a big lot behind the casino with tribal police cruising by to make it safe.

Which Casino? Most Casino will allow parking for RV, that I have been to, it is one of the places we look for when traveling. They have great food at most of them, and quiet.

We gave up on the can we? can't we? will it be safe? do we have to get permission? where will we walk the dogs? that goes with rest area/Walmart/Cracker Barrel/etc . . . and opt for KOAs. These are nearly everywhere and have a great online reservation website. A safe pull-through site with power and water (or washrooms if it is below freezing) plus a safe walking and play space for the dogs, means a good night sleep for all of us . Well worth the $50.

So true. Not worth it sometimes when you have a long trip ahead of you. You just make it part of the adventure.

    ^^^^ This ^^^^

We were going to stay at a Cracker Barrel - called ahead, manager was super nice. Told us “no problem” and insisted that it was I’m to run our generator for our A/C. Just before we got there we found a KOA and went that route. Just felt much safer in a campground. $50 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Walmart and etc doesn't work well for us. We like to be off the road by 3 pm and don't get back on the road till about 8 AM so that is about 17 hours. Most of our travels we need AC so we run the generator and burn about 3/4 of a gallon an hour of diesel. We use between 12 and 13 gallons of diesel at 3 bucks gallon would cost us 36 to 39 dollars for fuel so we don't really see savings over staying at a KOA. Now if its the time year we don't need AC then there are savings but unless something like Harvest Host we still prefer a KOA for overnight stops.

We use I Exit app. It shows gas, food, rest areas and distance. I'm new to this forum if you haven't guessed yet.

pjandme--thanks for the reference. I hope you'll take a moment and introduce yourself in the "New Members Introduction" section. Not required, but helpful so we know who you are.

You can stay at Sam's Club also (same policy as Walmart corproate policy) and they're much quieter after 9 p.m. than Walmarts.
