We had ours hard wired into the trailer by the dealer we bought from. This way we don’t have to worry about locking it up to the electrical post. Not sure what the brand was though.

I would recommend the Progressive Dynamics EMS-30 , this is a hard wired unit that will go inside the camper behind your power panel.
Do a search here for recommendations on location of install.

I think you will find that the majority of folks would recommend: https://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems-hw30c

They do make a portable if you are set against an installed version.

I will be installing the EMS-HW50C this weekend. I will document the install with pictures. I went back and forth on whether to use a hardwire or a portable. I opted for the hardwire because you also protect against issues with your cable, it cant be stolen, and you have the option of bypassing it if there is a problem with the unit.

We also went with Progressive but we decided on an external unit. When our external unit took a near lighting strike it arched from the case of the Progressive back to the power pedestal leaving a big burn spot on the Progressive case and the power pedestal. Didn't think the would be a good idea to install it behind our power panel in our RV and have it arch over to the fuse box. A quick trip to the local to parts store and we purchased a Surge Gaurd to use while the Progressive was sent in for repair.

Now we disconnect during lighting storms but this storm we away from our 5er when the storm rolled through. My current coach came with a built-in Surge Guard but I still hang my portable Progressive on the pole so that lighting strike hopefully doesn't enter my RV and bounce around inside my electrical compartment.

Well I completed the install and documented it, for anyone interested see attached file. It took me about 4 hours, but I am anal so you could probably do it in less time.
