    Shackles and Bushings

I will be replacing the shackles and bushings on our 2017 Solitude 321RL with the Lippert 7000# axles. Does anyone know the length of the shackles? Are they 2.25", 3.5" or 4 3/8"? Thanks for any information. Ed Curtis

Ed - I've seen so many variations, even among similar models that it would be a good idea to measure your particular shackles. Just measure the distance between the center of the bolt holes.

I just (Sunday) did that on our Solitude 310GK. My shackles were 2-1/4" long and used MORryde UO12-016 HD shackle kit.
HOWEVER, I would strongly recommend you measure the length of YOUR shackle. Easy to do and take 30 seconds with a tape measure. You do not need super accuracy.

You may consider getting rid of all shackles, all but 4 bushings, and get rid of the equalizers too. And, at the same time add shock absorbers for $1,370 in parts.
    From eTrailer.
The install is doable by someone with basic mechanical skills. Roadmaster told me that 80% of all the kits are owner installed.
It took me and a buddy about a day and a half to install the kit and I put on new self-adjusting brakes and repacked the bearings too.

How about a little ride report? Was it a nice improvement? I could see going this route on my 315.

My opinion is just that, an opinion.
Roadmaster has tested this suspension on the Navistar RV test track using fancy test equipment with sensors that are made to evaluate the effectiveness of suspension systems. They claim that their test results indicated a 70% reduction in the energy that was transmitted from the road to the trailer during their "before" and "after" tests.
The biggest selling point to me was how this makes the axles independent of each other which eliminates "axle roll-up". During braking, the axles roll forward which contributes to reducing the effectiveness of the braking of the front axle. Plus axle roll-up transfers weight from the front axle to the rear axle during braking, and this contributes to broken leaf springs when the rear axle is overloaded every time you brake. There is no weight transfer when the axles are independent of each other.
I don't have a fat checkbook to afford a MORryde IS system. Slipper springs do the same things as the MORryde IS and more for a lot less money.

That Roadmaster kit looks like a nice alternative the MORryde mod.
