Why is it so hard to understand the basics of towing?

I mean really, it’s not that hard to hook up the safety chains!

Unbelievable. It looks like only one bolt is holding the mount on the right side.

Not sure the second makes too much of a difference!

Looks like it might be attached to the spare tire carrier on the tailgate. I'm not sure that I'd even put a spare tire on this thing, much less try to bolt a trailer hitch there. It's probably just a bolt through the sheet metal, with a light backing plate inside.

What was it that Forrest Gump said?

Obviously the main issue here is that this guy won’t be able to open the rear door without disconnecting the trailer.

I'm sure that he would have used washers on the backside of the sheet metal . . . it'll be fine . . .

Nah, if he’s this creative then he will have no problem chocking the trailer tires and then just cutting hard to the left and easing the door open.

That would make you rubber neck for sure!
If only the hitch mounting pattern had been a little wider he could have used two bolts and it would have been fine
    Maybe it's a grade 8 bolt...yeah that's it.

    Yikes!
