    Rifle Storage in RV

Traded in our Toy Hauler for a more conventional 5th Wheel (more living quarter than utility layout). There is a coat closet my wife has graciously offered up as a rifle cabinet. Need to install some type of restraints for long guns. Anyone got any good ideas they could share?

How many rifles are you talking about. A hard sided case like a Pelican may be a good choice if you're only talking about a couple.

Is there an option to use a case like the Pelican that Jim stated but store it flat under the bed? Once you reach your destination you could move them to the closet.

How many are there? How often do you need to access them? How long are the barrels? For easy access and just a few rifles, I would use the coat closet. For deeper storage and/or greater quantities , I would consider mounting some rifle racks horizontally under the bed. Depending on length of barrels, there could be quite a few stored there. If you run out of space there, you could get inventive with the space underneath the tri-fold sofa.

Storing quantities of ammo is a whole other issue...

Those look pretty nice! If you don't think they'll work out, look into ATV rifle mounts.

For storage I would consider hard cases placed under the bed. They would be well protected during movement.

Can you break the rifles down? I have a couple of shotguns that I can break down and store in a smaller case that fits neatly under the bed. The assumption here is that you're not looking to use them in an emergency, self-defense role.

When traveling to the hunting grounds, I lay the rifles on the bed with blankets between them. The trailer really moves around a lot and to keep from beating up the stocks I found the bed to be the best option. Once you set up, move them to the storage area. Now to beef up the closet, if that is the question, weight is not your friend, buying a gun locker that will fit, and bolting it down is about the only option I have used to keep them safer than nothing.
