Who has retired to TN and how do you like it?

We moved to eastern TN from upstate NY about 5 years ago, so our experience is relative to that. We agree with most of the above except for the real estate prices. Rural land is about 4 times as expensive as where we came from. That is about the only downside, and the primary upside is dramatically lower property taxes. As far as making an adjustment to our new locale, there wasn't any.

My Grandparents had a big farm in eastern Tennessee between Dresden and Paris (Como). I spent many a summer and most Christmas' there. it's a beautiful area and I would love to go back. I think that is one area that has not been touched to much by the big population growth that has occurred in Tennessee.
