Finally picked up our new 3740BH

We ordered our new 3740BH mid December to avoid the new tariff increases from Grand Design. With a build date of 1/2019 the unit arrived late February but we didn't pick up till this past Saturday due to snowy conditions.

She's not light, with options including the king bed, heat pump, 4 slide awnings and Onan generator the weight is just a hair over 14,100 lbs. Even at this weight, it tows beautifully and stable (I don't miss the much smaller travel trailer that steered the truck for me). I'm a bit surprised with the dry pin weight of 2700lbs, I expected heavier (especially with the geny).

A few unexpected changes on trailer from what I've seen here on the forum and read online. The S-Class model was not supposed to get the "rail tight" underbelly strips, but mine has it. Instead of the Dometic RM1350 for the S-Class, mine has the Norcold 1210SS (which I prefer for looks anyway). The awnings are now Carefree brand and both awnings have adjustable pitch. No more King antenna, now a Winegard Air 360 antenna on the roof. The microwave is now vented outside instead of recirculated. We are back to a glass shower door, I was fearing curtains. The king bed has the upgrade with rollers attached to the floor instead of the bed (to avoid floor damage). These are just a few of the changes I've taken note of. I've have not had a chance to spend a lot of time going over the entire trailer yet.

The only complaint I have is the cheap bathroom fans used (but I knew this ahead of time). At least a fan upgrade should be offered as an option. The rear bath fan at least has a on/off wall switch, but in order to open the vent you have to stand on the toilet to reach the roof! I will be upgrading both fans to 7000k Maxxair's in due time!

Hopefully I get around to loading the trailer over the next few weeks. At that point I'll take a pin weight reading loaded.

I do need to drop the trailer a bit over the hitch (If I can hopefully). I have more than ample room even with the Demco hitch at it's lowest setting. The pin box does have one more hole to drop (raise the pin box up) but its tight against the frame. I'd have to slightly grind some bolt heads to use the upper most holes.

Traveland wanted way too much money, didn't appear to want to deal even though I told them I had a competing quote. Saved many thousands going 4 hours north to Voyager. As far as quality control... expecting the industry standard...

Congrats. Glad you got unexpected upgrades you like. Curious, what is the cargo carrying capacity on the trailer?

We were considering trading in our Momentum for this model when it first came out, but it wasn't a good financial move for us so we didn't end up doing it. We sure wish this model was available when we purchased, we most likely would have gotten this instead.

With all our options the dry weight is 14,200 rounded up. GVW is 16,800 giving an approximate carrying capacity of 2600lbs. I’ll never have that much weight in there but given I have an SRW truck I’ll have to be careful with my weight distribution in the trailer.

Thanks, I dont want to turn this into a weight police type question, I was just curious. That seems pretty reasonable compared to some bunkhouses I've seen.

    That seems really low.

My tiny Reflection is only 8995 GVWR with a carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs.
