Guys - most often from the factory the wheel size does not impact the height/circumference of the tire and thus bed height. 20" wheels most often get a low profile tire and 18" wheels get a tire with a greater sidewall dimension. The result is tire height/circumference and revs/mile is equivalent.
Thus (at least on GM HD 2500 trucks....not sure on Ford or Ram and various options may impact this differently) the 18" wheel gets a LT265/70R18/E @ 32.6" tall and 638 revs./mile. The 20" option as I have, has the LT265/60R20 @ 32.5" tall and 640 revs/mile.
This question has come up a number of times over the years and Rob (Cate and Rob) has shared posts with more details as I recall. Now yes, larger or smaller height/circumference tires can raise or lower bed heights as you noted. However, most often from the factory this is addressed as noted above.

The standard 18" tire on a 2019 Ford F350 SRW diesel is a LT275/65R/18 which is 32.1 diameter. The optional 20" tire (with wheel) is a LT275/65R/20 which is 34.1 diameter so a 2" difference which will be a 1" difference in truck height.
Ford offers an optional tire for the 18" which is a LT275/70R/18 (I have) which is 33.2 diameter so slightly more than 1" difference so about 1/2 inch in truck height.
Ford even forces, at least with the diesel F350 SRW, a 3.55 rear end instead of the standard 3.31 when selecting the optional 20" tire to keep the RPM's close to the same relative with gears and speed.Last edited by HighFive; 04-05-2019 at 10:42 AM.

No. I ordered my truck and didn't need hill decent control, skid plates or different shocks which some on the Ford Truck Enthusiast Forum claim are nothing special. Most dealer stock trucks I have seen are ordered with the FX4. I don't think it affects the height though if that is what you are thinking.

The rail height was a concern when I looked at the new 2017 Super duty's. I did notice that when I got my DRW it is an inch or two lower than the SRW. DRW comes with 17" wheels. The Solitude squats the truck about 3". The clearance was tight so I raised the hitch one hole up and have around 5" of clearance now. The hitch is the Reese 18K made for the Ford puck system. Also have a new Pace Edwards roll up cover and am able to run with it closed 2 clicks (about 20 inches). So far so good

Can any of you Ford guys answer this for me? What is the measurement from the cab to the center of the gooseneck ball on your short bed (6'8") trucks? I am looking to order a new F-350 and would like to have the factory prep package with the short bed if possible. I am currently running the goose box on my trailer and my truck being a RAM short bed with the B&W Gooseneck set up and 4" offset ball. Thank you in advance.

Pretty sure the factory prep package is not available on short bed trucks.

Jerryr,
If you have the time, would you be able to snap a measure measurement from the cab to the center of the gooseball?
Looks like another big shift in...
