Leave in the bed or take out?
Curious if you leave your Anderson hitch in the bed or remove it after you unhook? Seems like it could be a minor pain to retorque each time, but it's also light enough that it could be easily removed, with the right tools. Unlike some hitches that almost require a crane to remove.
I'm not worried about it overnight in the campground, but the truck will be our "mobile wheels" while visiting a lot of unfamiliar areas as we tour the country, and it could be parked for several hours, without any real supervision.
I didn't have that issue with my bumper hitch.
Thanks, in advance.Tom and Janice (known as Tom in PGH on the “other” forum)

Where are you going to put it. They are still pretty big. You will probably want to fill up your pass-thru storage with other things. Why not a tonneau cover? Keeps it out of the weather too plus anything else you haul in the bed like a generator etc.

I went a little different way. I have a 5th wheel hitch (BW Companion) that comes out pretty easily in two pieces). To secure it I have a hard tonneau cover (BAK MX4) that effectively locks with the tail gate. When I am not towing, I just close the tonneau cover. Not fool proof, but keeps the hitch and anything else in the bed out of site and keeps honest people honest. The only issue is if I (on rare occasion) have something tall that sits up above the bed rail. Then I can not close the tonneau cover, but that is pretty rare.

Yup. the roll up tarps work very well. Not saying someone won't take a knife to it but usually out of sight is pretty safe.

Not Andersen, but same with my PullRite Superlite......cover with the tonneau cover when not hitched up.....if not using the trailer for 4+ weeks will pop out and store in brick & mortar garage.
