If you want to use an F-450 and are worried about rail clearance, install correct-track or some other lift on the trailer to increase bed-rail clearance (and/or adjust the pin-box and hitch if possible).

Is the Turbo shot or is it stuck? My 2005 LLY had vanes sticking in the turbo - cost $1400 to have it removed and unstuck (they remove corrosion and clean it). Good for another 100K+ miles (those turbos need to be worked hard or they rust due to moisture in the vanes from not reaching operating temperature.) If you can find a good Turbodiesel shop they might be able to bullet-proof your truck and a lower cost ..... also did not have good luck with an extended warranty. I got one, they ran my credit card, I signed the papers, but the dealership never turned it in to the warranty company .... I had to fight with them when I had a fuel injector problem and a climate control issue that would have been covered. They did fix both for no charge, but knowing that the extended warranty was non-existent during all of our cross-country travels after the fact - not good. I will never purchase another extended warranty on anything after that.

Would not recommend the add on correct trac system. Just too much bending on the hangers when they have been extended.

Stock height on my Momentum 376TH is 13'6". National standard road clearance height is "minimum" 13'6", but generally 14'. I learned this when my former 5th wheel got an axle upgrade, raised it to 13' 8". I never had a problem but it made me nervous, as a result I am not going to easily raise my current RV height. I would rather consider lowering the truck, but that is another engineering issue that will take me a great deal of time to figure out.

Turbo stuck or defective? Probably just stuck. But the majority of the cost of repair is not in the parts, but in the labor charges. So rather than mess around with cleaning I just decided to replace it, that way, if the veins are grooved, I am done with it. If I just clean it and the it's defective, then I am stuck on the side of the road again. I gave up trying to mechanic when I screwed up my anti-lock brakes, that was some years ago, I am just not that good of a mechanic. Doesn't mean I don't understand it all, just can't do the work myself. So as a fulltimer how do I find a reliable repair facility? Rolling into a town where I don't know anyone it is impossible for me judge. As a result I use Chevrolet and GMC dealerships. Way more expensive, but, the dealer in the next town will honor the warranty of the dealer where it was repaired, and that is huge to me.

My extended warranty was closed. So the service manager called the next morning, put on hold for over and hour and offered a call back service, no call back, called again, another hour on hold but got through, no problem, we will schedule and adjuster to come look at it, should be there in two days. In the mean time the RV park says sorry, you must move in two days, we are completely booked. Rock and hard place. I looked at trying to buy a new truck, too much too soon too fast.

We are waiting for the repair to be complete.

Dallas, if you still need to move (not sure of the time line) can you call a transport company (maybe check with any local dealers) and see if someone could move you just to get out of the parking spot? Just a thought.

It's going to close, the RV park has been great about it. If it comes down to it I will give Good Sam roadside assistance a call, if they won't actually pay for the haul they will at least be able to tell me who in the area can tow it. I will put a post on the GD Emergency RV Emergency Alliance first, there may be another GD owner nearby willing to lend a hand.

Today we wait. I can do little or nothing well.

Sorry if I missed it in the previous posts. Where are you located and where would you need to go? I assume with your trailer you will need a dually to handle the pin weigh, at least on the road.

We are in the Pechanga Casino RV Resort off of I-15 and CA-79 in Temecula, CA. I haven't called around to find a spot. I am betting my truck will get finished in time, should be. Yes, nothing less than a dually will handle my 376. There are a number of older campgrounds around here that aren't well advertised. Around 4pm today I will contact the dealership and get an update on the progress, at that time I will make a decision.

I'm following along on this thread..... I had 83k on my 2013 F350 CC SB 4x4 with Lariat Ultimate Trim package. Plans to do much traveling starting EOM.....My extended B-B warranty stopped at 75,000, so only had engine warranty to 100K left. Priced additional coverage for my Truck and it averaged about $1100 per 10K of miles.....I was going to need tires in another 5-10K miles. My 2013 did not have the improved turbo or the diesel exhaust brake and IMO the head lights (even with the "super bulbs") were not in the same league with the lighting on the newer trucks. I was going to need shocks in the near future, and lastly I could tell that driving on the pitiful roads around here had taken it's toll on the steering/ball joints, etc. Almost forgot to mention the 26 gallon fuel tank. I talked myself into upgrading.

Hoping your extended warranty covers your repairs.....

I just read an article in the May 2019 issue of Trailer Life. It says if the injector pump (CP4.2) goes in your 2011 to 2016 GM or Ford (or 2014-2016 Dodge 1500 eco-diesel truck,
expect to pay $8500 for repairs. Alternatively you can upgrade to a CP3 (which was standard in Gm 2001-2010 and Cummins 5.9L and 6.7L for about $3500. S&S also makes a conversion kit. 50 state Carb compliant. CP4 supports 525HP, CP3 supports 800HP, so if you do mods, this may be the way to go.
OR, you can wait for the all new 2020 GM trucks which have a ten speed tranny and tow rating up to 35500 pounds..
