    HOT outdoor fridge 29RS

The little beverage fridge on the outdoor entertainment feature is not cooling to a usable temp...In fact the outside of the fridge is very hot to the touch...I measured the temps and here is what I got:

    Outside skin of fridge: 130F
Inside back of fridge(cooling unit): 13F
    Inside front near door: 67F

I'm concerned that the outside temp could become a fire hazard so removed the power to the unit.

Any one else have issues with the outdoor fridge?

    Thanks, Mark

Don't have an outdoor fridge so I don't have an answer to your question.
But, I did want to welcome you to the forum and the family! Congrats on your new Reflection!

We took delivery of our New GD Reflection 317RST a couple weeks ago. Our first camping trip was this past weekend to work out any kinks with the unit. I agree with you on the outside refrigerator. I noticed the same thing, the outside of the frig was hot, the water bottles inside was barely cool. As a matter of fact, I was shocked at the amount of heat that came out of the compartment when I opened it to use the outside TV. My wife and where excited about this setup on the 317RST since we thought our kids, nieces and nephews would no longer have to track dirt in and out of our beatiful RV.

Did the temp improve after you left the compartment open for a while? Refers need air going across the condenser coils to operate properly (the outside refer is a standard, not an RV type). I'm wondering if there's not ventilation to the compartment, and while you're operating it with the compartment closed if it's getting too hot in there making the refer highly inefficient.

While GD researches the problem, I'd suggest you pick up one of these:

    http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...f-switch/38134

Since you have 13F at the back of the unit, you may just need to circulate the air in the refrigerator. We have used these fans for at least 15 years in all of our RV reefers, and they do a great job of keeping the temperature uniform.

The outdoor fridge in my 323BHS works fine at the moment even with the compartment closed. I did note that it is a different fridge, much larger, and the compartment is much larger. The fridge I have is compressor driven, some of this size are thermoelectric and IMO are not worth their value in dirt as they don't cool very well at all. It works fine with the door closed too and there is a small vent going into the rear hutch inside the RV.

    Red face

That can occur if the compressor was trying to start up but failing to do so.There is a slim chance a plugged condenser or failed condenser fan might also cause the compressor to overheat. The condenser should be cleaned every couple of months. I guess you haven't been doing that.I advise you to look this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2X7M9PJ8x0 it can help you to fix your refrigerator issue. Also, if you want, check out this article about outdoor refrigerators and how you should use them Good Luck)

Since that post was made 3 years ago, I'd hazard a guess they've figured it out.....
