    Lug Nut Socket Size?

What size socket for the lugs on my 2023 Solitude 310GK-R wheels? The rims are aluminum by Lions Head. And the lugs have those freakin caps on them. Called Grand Design and they didn’t know. Lions Head didn’t answer. Thanks.

3/4 inch...drop kick those puppies out the door. I replaced mine with chromed ones. If you keep them, don't use an impact on them.

Hadn't thought about the potential damage by using an impact wrench on those lug nuts. I finally broke down and bought a nice impact wrench for our travels this year - my wrists can't take cranking on a tire iron anymore. Thanks for sharing that tip!

Thanks! Gonna keep them for a bit. No chance of an impact on the IEM capped junkies, but appreciate the tip!

Glad you asked. I've tried 3/4 and metric and nothing seems to quite fit correctly - and the sockets always get stuck on the lugs when I check torque. I've already used the impact on one of my wheels when the tire went flat - I didn't think of that either. Wonder what size they are as I'm all for getting the chrome ones? Going to vary with the size of rim/tire or are all 310GKs same 8 lug and stud? What a struggle trying to dislodge the sockets each and every time.

Thru trial…and error, I found out that the capped lugs on my wheels are 22 mm. Who knew? I just checked my torque today for the first time and they were all 120. Spinning one of those goofy caps is NOT on my to do list, so will be careful. Until I spin one (or have a good reason to change what I’ve got) I’m gonna wait on doing away with the funky cap things.

Just checked my sockets and it was 7/8" (not 3/4") and 22mm. Could not get 3/4 to go on at all over the soft cover and 7/8 is too large. Even the 22mm gets stuck when checking torque.

The capped nuts are fine provided you use a 6 point socket. 12 point sockets will wreck the covers for sure. Got the T shirt.

I use a 6 point 22mm socket and 130 ft lbs is enough to jam the socket on the soft covers. It's a nuisance.

    130 ft.lbs. is a bit high, I think 90-110 ft.lbs. is recommended. I think.
