A few people seem to be getting hung up on my $20k price for a used EV, which is just a number I threw out there. Plus, they're missing the fact that I was clearly talking about EV prices. So I went online and looked up several sources and each one said the average price for a used (non-EV) car today is around $30k+.
The list below shows the 10 states with the lowest costs.Last edited by DaveMatthewsBand; 02-17-2024 at 06:44 PM.

Hah, my second car was a 1955 Mercury Montclair. It was 6V. We never knew if it would have enough power to get the engine started skipping HS classes before the administration saw us in the parking lot. That starter motor had more total revs than the engine but every start, battery would just about die before the engine kicked.

In many ways this is a sad story.
Who ever was the fleet manager failed to perform any homework on whether the EVs could do the job or not. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the fleet records to determine the number of miles traveled in a day and determine if that number is greater than the range of the EV.
Generally speaking, many fleet vehicles travel less than 100 miles per day and return to a centralized depot at the end of the day which is a perfect use case for EVs since they can charge overnight at the depot and be ready for the next day.David and Peggy

I read some articles a few years ago that Bolt owners were just scrapping their cars because replacing the batteries cost more than the car was worth.
My opinion is that solar house power and EVs have not advanced enough to be cost effective.
A guy tried selling me solar panels for my house. Went through the whole spiel. Then I told him to divide my “savings” into the price of the system. It was going to take 32.3 years to break even. No thanks. Solar houses and cars are for peeps with more money than I have.
Maybe it will be viable someday, but not now for me.
