As a "registered guest" you have basic access, but there is more, like pictures and attachments (and maybe signature?), that only site sponsors can access. The fee is $12 per year and primarily means that the site can run without advertising or pop-ups. If you are interested in full participation, go to Settings on the top bar and then Paid Subscriptions down the left side.
