Instead of putting the heavier 30lb on I just take an extra 20lb. Still equals 60lb total. And I don’t strain my back.

Certainly! The difference between green and black propane valves lies in their specifications. Let’s break it down:
Light Green Connectors:
Rated for 200,000 Btu per hour.
These connectors are suitable for moderate propane flow requirements.
They are commonly used for standard propane appliances.
Black Connectors:
Rated for 70,000-100,000 Btu per hour.
These connectors are designed for lower propane flow needs.
They work well with smaller appliances or those with lower heat output.
Dark Green Connectors:
Rated for 450,000-500,000 Btu per hour.
These connectors are robust and handle high propane flow rates.
Typically used for heavy-duty appliances or industrial applications.
Remember that the color-coding corresponds to spring tension and flow rate, ensuring safe and efficient propane connections. If you need a stronger spring, consider the red connector, which is often used for high-pressure adapters and T-fittings1.
