Hi Tom,
I just stumbled upon this question that I missed from a while back.
I used a DC to DC converter to step the rig 12VDC down to 9VDC for the water alarms. These units fit into the alarm battery compartment and are powered from the main RV batteries. Thus, when I shut off the main batteries, the alarms go silent.
I got these from a local Canadian supplier and they are likely available elsewhere, but I know that Qkits does a lot of business with US customers. His stock is always changing, so I would suggest talking to him first to explain what you want to do and that the converter should be the same size as a 9V battery and he will be able to supply what you need.

I cut the Kant-Leak out and installed the Nautlus P1 so far i like the change.
