My wife wanted to learn to pull our old TT but never did. Has never asked about 5th wheel. After reading this thread I suggested she do it. Well ... Sitting in Williston Crossings RV Resort about 25 miles from home, and yes she pulled it all the way here and parked it in a pull through site. She did AWESOME!! Now she wants to learn to back up.
I normally make a terrible passenger in any vehicle because I always drive, but I wasn't even nervous in passenger side.

My wife is an expert and hauling and backing. We often take our TT and boat camping- therefor the wife tows the GD or boat. My favorite is watching the look of shock on the 'ol boys face when she precisely backs our 21' boat down the ramp. Having her confident and skilled is a real blessinf

My wife is confident with the boat as well, and she laughs because she'll hear husbands on the ramp look at their wives and ask "why can't you do that? "

Driving is primarily her duty in this set up - and maneuvering to park is almost exclusively her domain. Since neither of us had ever towed before we jumped into the deep end with our 380TH, we took some private driving instruction. From there, we decided to specialize a bit for this first season. We've both done everything at least once, and next season we'll focus on fine tuning the skills where the other currently specializes. Neither of us are ready for solo duty, though that's partially due to lack of desire at this point. We'll probably practice that next year, for the just in case scenarios.

Karen will get behind the wheel and drive, she does a great job but doesn't do the backing and parking thing. she doesn't like long hills and city driving either as it makes her a bit nervous. BUT, i will say she will tackle whatever as needed and is the best team mate one would ever want. she doesn't do the RV forum thing as facebook stuff is here gig, so i replied on her behalf. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

I am also new at towing as we purchased our 40ft Solitude in July of this year. I made up mu mind to start driving right away and towed it to the campground and parked it with Greg's help. I have driven from Vancouver Island all thru Washington, Oregon and California to Yuma and parked with a bit of backing up to straighten out and had no problems thru Los Angeles and San Diego. The secret is to start right away!! I also back up the truck to hook up to the hitch and can do the electronic levelling and other necessities as well. I personally think I am as good as my hubby and he has towed trailers before!
Ladies, if I can do it anyone can!
