Need help on Samsung ice maker.
About three years old. It stopped making ice. We put bought ice and put it in the tray (for consumption) and it started working once when that ice got low. Then quit again.
1. I've hit the reset button. Edit...you need to hold button for 6 to 10 seconds.
2. I've cycled it off inside the door.
3. I've killed the power to to whole frig.
4. I've rotated the water line valve on the supply line.
Any ideas??????
Thanks Red.Last edited by el Rojo; 02-05-2024 at 10:47 AM. Reason: Reset button info.

The fact that it works intermittently indicates that you have water supply to the icemaker. Since it worked when you put store-bought ice in it and then quite when it filled up might indicate a faulty switch on the ice level sensing arm.

Thanks Rob. Not sure I have the sensing arm. I think I have the infrared beam, but can't seem to access the light or reflector. I'll try to get access again.

You're right! We don't use the icemaker (can't use it in the winter, anyway) and I've never looked up in there to see that there isn't a sensing arm. You can probably search YouTube and find out how to see/check the sensor and reflector. It's possible they could just be "junked up."

Yes that's the button, but it's on the bottom on mine. I will check to see if there's another on top. When I hit it, it sounds like the ice maker is cycling but no water fills the tray. I disconnected the water line at the cut off outside and ran water through it. Then I blew air into the line going to the ice maker.
Still no ice...still at a loss.

Update.
I pulled the ice maker out. Let it defrost re-installed it. It does have an arm not an inferred sensor. Anyway when I hit the reset it cycles, so I think it's not the problem. Next up it the water valve or the board. The youtube video's say those are easy fixes...Yeah right. Those guys aren't working in an RV with an island in the way.
First stop Walmart for ice trays...and beer.
Not only is the frig bolted down somehow, all the doors will have to come off (I hope it will clear the island) and then we have to get it out of the slide compartment. Arghhhhh!

Samsungs are famous for freezing up in many places including the Ice maker. We have a Samsung in the stick and brick and the ice maker stopped once. Did the reset and it was still working when we left. But did find a sheet of ice under the vegetable bins which I've read is a common occurance... pull your bins and check ,maybe that is where all your ice is hiding
I'll be watching to see where this ends up for you, we might have to mess with ours once we return later in the Spring.
on edit: One thing I find odd is that if the ice maker light is on it means the icemaker is off, no light indicating it is on and working... not sure what they were thinking on that one.Last edited by WhittleBurner; 02-07-2024 at 08:46 AM.

If no water when cycled could the ice maker water supply switch on the Nautilus panel be in the off position? If you have a water filter could be clogged up.
