AMAZING it is now 2018 and the junk stereos are still standard, NO Blurray etc, poor coax I assume is still the norm when quad shield coax would be just a few dollars more. Many of us enjoy quality flat screens at home with good sound systems.
I have modified several trailers I have owned, adding a small Blu Ray player, small home theater receiver, Klipsch Quinitet speakers, low profile subwoofer, an inverter to run off of 12 volt when necessary.
If I can do it then why can't Grand Design?? Just imagine the selling tool when the RV sales rep cranks up a decent audio / video system, and in terms of demographics there is a tidal wave of folks like me nearing retirement and plan on significant time in my RV escaping the INSANE cost of living and high taxes of California, counting the months until I can get out of here and head towards the National Parks.
I have had two trailers with Furion TV's, both failed within a year, pure junk and wasted money. Good Grief, at least please give us the option of ordering a trailer WITHOUT paying for audio junk, pre-wire with decent cables and connectors, use decent speakers in the ceiling or prewire with cutouts.
Do the above and FLAUNT it as another Grand Design feature that kills the competition.
I have not bought yet but am pleasantly surprised at the follow up direct from GD marketing department, answered some questions, and I almost fainted when someone in marketing called me, spoke english and was at the factory, NOT calling from India, WOW now jump on the audio video improvements!! This is a softball, low hanging fruit for GD. You have done so well in design, customer service from what I have read, etc.
Consumers crave great customer service and quality, we are not talking about major costs here.
GD spend a few bucks and get someone with audio video knowledge to brainstorm with your design team.
OK, got this off my chest.

Yes Crutchfield has great customer service, researched this with them. The only way to really get decent home theater sound [5.1 surround] is with a 110V AV receiver, 110v quality Blu ray, add subwoofer and speakers and an inverter for when you are not hooked up to 110 power.
Running wires to bookshelf speakers is a pain and difficult to keep clean, next best way is use a sound bar as many have done. Bad sound is a function of the receiver and speakers being the weakest link.
I have a IRV technology head unit and dvd player combo in my current trailer, sells for $500 at Critchfield, which would go a long ways towards a decent AV receiver / blu ray setup, so a shame this junk could not be deleted on a special order trailer if need be.
Look at what can be bought for $350.00 a complete compact 5.1 system:
Samsung HT-J5500W
5.1 Blu-ray home theater system with Wi-FiŽ and wireless rear speakers
