    2nd AC Reflection

Adding a 2nd AC on reflection 5th wheel, should I go with the ducted and tie it in or non ducted? Also is the Atwood too tall?

We're doing same thing. Think I'm going ducted with a Dometic Penguin. It's under 10".

I would suggest going with the Dometic Penguin II ducted unit specifically. You never know when a few inches might be the difference between hitting something and not hitting something.

The Penguin has a reputation of being loud, but it can most often be run in the daytime and cut off at night when outside temps lower.

I like my Atwood a/c unit in the rear, but I really don't know if they're going to remain in the a/c business since Lippert purchsed the company.

I say ducted so that you can run opposite ACs from the area you are occupying. I have non-ducted and wish living room was quiter while watching tv. Also bedroom quiter at night.

Is adding in a 2nd A/C something you can do yourself? Anybody know the level of difficulty? I really don't want to pay the dealer their $110 per hr labor. Thanks

Just like most things, it will depend on your skill level. It is definitely a project some people can do themselves. Just have no way of knowing if you are one of those people. The toughest part is getting the A/C unit up on the roof but I have seen many creative ways of doing that. GD did leave the wiring in there for you and ran the control wires over to the wall by the light switch.

Should be plenty of self help videos on youtube and you can always call GD customer support to get specific details on the wiring.

We just got the 2nd AC installed. The Dometic Penguin II ducted. I should have had it installed from the very beginning. Nice to keep the noise in the other room.

Ducted is definitely the way to go. If you want to use it in non-ducted mode you simply open the vents on the unit. We installed the 2nd AC in our Reflection TT the moment we bought it. I have the Dometic Brisk Air II 13.5k BTU. It's very noisy.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO NOISE LEVELS. Knowing what I know now, I would not have chosen the model I did. I simply told them to install a 2nd AC. Didn't think about noise. I would see if they have one actually running in a rig so that you can get an idea of noisy it will be.
