    Fuel Treatment - Onan Generator

    Hello;

    What fuel treatment(s) are you using in your Onan generator fuel tank?

    Onan recommends OnaFresh GXLP Fuel Stabilizer....anyone using this?

    For my portable gas generator (hurricane prep), I use a mixture of StarTron and Stabil...seems to work well.

    Thanks!

    I have begun using Sta-bil 360 in all of my small engines. It supposedly neutralizes ethanol. Finding no ethanol fuel is getting harder and harder and it is very expensive. This way you can use regular gas without ruining your engines.

    I have been running sea foam for years 1 ounce per gallon for years in all my has engines and haven't had a problem since. Before that I spent a lot of money on bad gas.

    I have used Stabil for years. I changed over the Stabil Marine a few years ago. What I have found is the engines with the bigger carbs don't have any trouble but the small jetted ones like my Stihl chain saw, weedeater and Honda generators have troubles if you use fuel that is old. I even double dose with Stabil and still have issues.
    I tried to start my Stihl saw last week and it did start but it ran awful rough and had no power. I had some Archoil 6200 for my diesels. I put some of it in the chainsaw and in a few minutes it was running smooth again. This winter I am going to try the Archoil 6200 as my only stabilizer and see what happens

    I use Seafoam, it is a fuel stabilizer and treatment in one. Switched over from Stabil a year ago. I switched for use in the toys and run it in the gen tank as a matter of convience. I only use pure gas as well, no ethanol in either tank.

    Check www.Pure-Gas.org to see where you can get non-Ethanol fuel in your area.

    I also use Seafoam. It works.

    Seafoam was recommended to me by the Shop Foreman at the local Chevrolet dealer. We used it in a couple of used ATV's we bought when doing winter maintenance on them. Since then I use ethanol free gas in those, and have always used it in my other small engines, but the Seafoam did the trick for that bad gas, and we've never had a problem since. They have several formulations: Seafoam Website

    I also am a Seafoam fan. I've used it in motorcycles for years and had it in my home generator. Great stuff!

    I began using Seafoam several years ago in our Winnebago... The generator ran off the coach gas tank... Part of my winterizing consisted of pouring a can of Seafoam into the last 1/4 tank or so (10 - 15 gallons) then running the genny til I was reasonably sure it had sucked up enough of the "rich" mixture to fill the float bowl... Then I'd top off the tank and put the coach to bed for the winter...the TBI Chevy didn't always wake up right away in the spring but I never had an issue starting the genny...
