Poll: How many of you have had your grease seals fail?

Need another choice, "seals failed but no grease on brakes". That was my situation.

Rats! Well, you would have had grease on the brakes if you would have driven a couple hundred more miles :-)

True, two of mine had grease on brakes and the other two were leaking but hadn't reached that point yet.

Mine were a mess after less than 6 months when I went to repack them. Grease everywhere and I needed to replace everything and I even had the drums turned.

3 greased brakes 2 ripped seals. < 6k miles. I think mine was that way from factory because of ripped seals.

Nope, not ours. But our Solitude is #302 off the line, built in early 2013. This was earlier than when the problem came to light.

Does this issue span all GD models or just the Reflection 5W? I have a Solitude 300GK, and have been listening to all that have had grease blow past the seals and onto the brakes and have been wondering if I should open mine up now, before I have any issues and check. I have the 7000lb axle, and I guess the Reflection uses the 6000 lb?
The only reason I'm even wondering is because I've had to learn about the manual brake adjustments every 3000 mi on my axles, and I just get nervous that the reason I can't get my brakes to lock up, is because of grease on the brakes....

this brake thing and grease thing is a real black clould following us in our travels isn't it.

The issue spans all the GD models as well as other manufactures of RV's that use Lippert axles. For piece of mind, I would check the seals. Mind had no external signs of leaking and it was only after I pulled the hubs did I find grease had migrated past the seals but had not yet reached the brake pads.
