I installed the water softener last weekend and used one of the test strips that came with the package, while we were out at the lake.
This is what the results were:

Resistance is Not Futile, It's Voltage Divided by Current.

    Just an update...

I installed this unit 4 months ago in March, we only used the RV 3 times throughout March and April, then we went full-time in May.
Here it is mid-July and our 16,000 grain on-the-go water softener is still going strong on the first regen.

Do we need to go ahead and do a regen even though the water still feels, smells and tastes fine?
Test results still look like the above photo!

I use an On-the-Go softener and it has been great! I’m just back from a long trip and due for my first regen, so we’ll see how that goes. I filter the water before the softener because I don’t want it to have to deal with any impurities that might be present. The black botton is there to adjust for uneven surfaces so your softener can remain vertical. It’s designed that way, it’s not a defect.

I wanted to post an update since I posted several times in this thread over the past year.
We've actually been using the unit continuously for 6 months and have not had to regen yet.
I test the water every couple weeks and it's still fine. I'm guessing we've run about 1,000 gallons through it.
Only thing I can think of is that everyone says the Pacific NorthWest has some of the ''least hard" water in the country.
We've spent 5 of the past 6 months in Oregon so maybe the softener just hasn't had to work very hard which is why we're still good to go?

We just installed the same unit about 2 weeks ago here in south tx. It took a few days to be able to tell a difference but after that it has been great. As hard as our water is here I was planning on regenning every couple of weeks. Time will tell, hah.
