After that set for a month.
I'm assuming you guys also use some type of inline water filter, in conjunction with the water softener, can anyone share what they use for that?

I use this one in front of the softener with a VOC reducing element. My 5th wheel has a built in filter after the softener (as you may well know!).

Yes, I use a filter system after the softener. This is what I have:

    Dual canister:

    Sediment filter on one side:

Carbon filter on the other side:

I also have an adjustable water pressure regulator that I put after the filters:

We just bought a smaller 9000 grain softener with a filter attached at the last GD rally in IN from G & Lrvspecialties , Great people to deal with. (no prices on their site but think it was around $270)
We also have a dual filter we hook up to it.

They are also very good at removing iron in addition to softening. Our seasonal site has a nasty iron problem and the 16,000 grain model removes it...if heavy iron is present the manufacturer recommends adding a few teaspoons of iron out when regenerating.

So the water softener arrived via UPS and it looks a little crooked.
Should I be concerned with this or is the base adjustable?

I'd try to pull that black plastic bottom piece off and look for damage to the actual softener housing. If the blue housing looks good, just put the black plastic bottom protector thingy back on and start using it. I don't think there is any way to harm the parts inside the unit with rough handling.

The bottom piece on my water softener was crooked too. You can take it off and straighten it. It is easier if you have someone to help you pull it off.
