Montreal area, July 4th week
We're still finding our way around the "find a campground" web sites, so we thought we'd try to find some local knowledge.
We are looking for a campground for the 4th of July week in the Montreal area, but that is a somewhat loose term (we aren't interested in going into the city).
We are gathering three generations of the family, and will have parts of the family in a Solitude, a pop-up, and a tent, across three sites. So we need a place that can accommodate 35' down to tents. Much of what we've found in the area seem to be RV-only.
Are there members somewhat close to Montreal, or who have stayed near Montreal, who would be willing to make recommendations?
Thanks,

Al and Kathe - if you were interested in coming another two hours west, we could offer some suggestions for the St. Lawrence 1000 Islands area.

Thanks, Rob! The Montreal location was suggested by our kids. I had just sent a note to them asking how wed they were to that area before I saw your reply. If it turns out that they're not, we'll be VERY interested. (Actually, we'll be interested regardless; it just may be for a later trip!)

The St. Lawrence 1000 Islands has campgrounds and lots of things to see and do on both the Canadian and the American sides. We've lived (and boated) here all our lives. If this area fits your travel plans, tell us what kinds of things you are interested in and we might be able to offer some suggestions.

Hello Al and Kathe, John Joscelyne here. We were just in the Montreal area this past July. The campground we stayed at was Camping Alouette. The campground was about 20 minutes east of the city. It has a nice pool, although we did not a chance to use it. Also a playground area for the kids. There is also a driving range for the golfers. We did not notice any tent sites, but there Web site says they offer them.
The trasit system in Montreal was great, parked the truck at the metro station and took the underground to main station. Most in French. Tons of cool things to do and see
Hope this helps in your search. Good luck.

Hey again, also another spot in 1000 Island area is Swan Bay Resort. In has a marina , great playground, I do not think they do tent sites though. Pool area is a little small but has a tiki bar.
Again, good luck
