Tow Ball Locks to Hitch - Suggestions?

    Greetings!
Happily living in our new Reflection 315RLTS.

I have had a problem dis- mounting from the tow vehicle after leveling with Andersen levelers.

By the time I rock the trailer enough to release the tow ball, the trailer is no longer level.

Thanks in advance for your insights!
    Dennis

Is your tow ball lubricated? There are multiple videos on YouTube that explain/show what to do.

Not uncommon. Like Dennis said, make sure ball/inside of hitch is grease a bit. Doesn’t need too much. I often have to raise my trailer pretty far with the tongue jack to get it to release. Jumping on the truck bumper sometimes helps, but honestly the grease usually helps. There are ways to adjust the hitch receptical where the ball joins, but I would be hesitant to back it off, not wanting it too loose.

After the Andersons are properly leveled and chocked as well as the other side chocked you should be able to put the truck in neutral and take your foot off brake to release the bind created by pushing or pulling up on the Andersons. The trailer shouldn't move if done properly.

    Fantastic feedback all
We will be setting up again this afternoon at Medina Lake near San Antonio, and will put this well lubricated solution to good use!

    Thanks All!

Just an observation. Are you trying to level the travel trailer before you are unhooked from the truck? That might be your issue as that will put quite a bind on the ball. What we do with our current travel trailer is back the TT on to some dunnage (we use those Lego looking plastic blocks, but a couple of pieces of 12" X 12" 3/4" plywood would also work) to get close to level side to side. Then unhook from the truck. Once unhooked, we level front to rear using the tongue jack, then fine tune the side to side level using the jacks. Might try this...

One other thing I will mention, when you unhook from the truck, the first thing you will want to do is release any weight distribution tension you have (spring bar chains or equivalent). Then lower the trailer's tongue jack so that all on the tongue weight is on the ball. Release the ball latch, then using the tongue jack raise the trailer off the ball. Otherwise, if the ball latch is under tension, it will not release the ball easily.
