BC, Canada Buyers BEWARE!!
Just an FYI thread here, specific to BC trailer owners.
Our neighbour thankfully let us know some licensing additions we had no clue about.
First of all mad as hell NO-ONE informed us of this..
Not the dealer, not the finance guy, not the "trainer" dude when we picked up, not the insurance agent, nobody!
To legally tow a trailer over 4600Kg (Which our 310GK is) you need to do both a written test and road test to obtain what they call a
07 "House Trailer" endorsement (From ICBC)
If you do not and are in any kind of accident, your insurance is void and you could have the trailer completely off the road (not able to tow at all) until such time you at least to the written portion (test) and obtain the successful "learners permit".
You can also be legal with a class 1 or 3 on your license, (air brake or otherwise) but NOT with a standard class 5.
Needless to say I will be informing the dealer about my displeasure in not being informed of this, as well as the insurance agent!
I am unaware of any additional specifics in other provinces, nor in the states.. But do yourself a favour and double/triple check you are licensed properly!!
Hopefully this saves someone some headaches out there in the event of mishaps!
(Shame on the sales process!!)

Hi @Mystudiois,
Is this new legislation? 4600 KG (assuming this trailer GVWR) is 10,000 lbs. Most of the Reflections and all the Solitudes and Momentums. We have several forum members from BC and no one has mentioned this. I have not heard of anything like this in Ontario. This would affect most 5th wheels, of any brand. Can you provide a link to the BC provincial legislation?

This is a real "eye opener".

I have never heard of this in Ontario ??

My intent here is simply to make sure people don't get "taken".
Sounds to me like dealers and insurance agents need to do a better job on full disclosure.
Talk to your agents!
Not sure if Im able to due to size, but I will try to upload the actual training booklet for 07 endorsement (BC)

I’d be mad too but this is something we all should have to pass before hauling our rigs.
Still no excuse they didn’t mention it in the sales process.

Yup... got my endorsement years ago. 45 minute Pre-trip test and a 45 minute road test. Pretty much the same test as the commercial trailer test but doesn’t need the medical and lasts your lifetime.
Dealers don’t want to mention this and lose a sale...Trailer: 2019 Solitude S-Class 3740BH

AFAIK, this is SOP for most dealers. The ones I visited in California had no clue that if you tow a trailer over 10-15K lbs (4536-6803 kg), you need a recreational trailers endorsement on your Class C license. And if you're towing a trailer over 15k lbs, you need a non-commercial class A license.
Last year I was warned by a friend in B.C. that they strictly enforce the license requirements and if you're out of class, they can and will impound your vehicle/trailer.2017 Ford F450 - our kids call her "Big Red"
