    Hi Jim,
New installation looks great! Similar to one that I know very well .
Try saving the pictures to your desktop and making a small edit (like a minor diagonal resize). Then re-save the picture and post. The pictures should then remain upright when you post.

Good job Jim. Is this what you did on your birthday? BTW, are you going to 2 - 12 volts?

    Thanks Jim,
I am considering a setup like this for our 310GK, can you please provide a parts list and wiring diagram for your setup?

    I appreciate it very much.

    Hi Brian,

I don’t have a diagram (other than the pictures). I’ll gather my part numbers and post...might be a couple of days though.

    Hi Brian,

This is not exactly what Jim (@Jim & Deb) is building, but is very similar. This may give you some usable ideas while Jim finishes his project.

Attached is the basic wiring diagram and some notes on how I do this system. (RVs & Boats). It is ideal that there only be one wire on every terminal. The only exceptions to this are the battery side of the shunt and the ground post. It looks like Jim is using another Buss Bar instead of the ground post that I use.

The red wires from the +ve Buss Bar will go to the existing fuses or circuit breakers for hydraulics, converter, etc and is where the charge wire from the truck embilical and the power to the break-away braking will attach. You can re-route the existing wiring for all of this. Note that this means the new battery switch must be on when towing. This is fairly easy to remember because the switch must be on to run the hydraulics or electric landing gear to hitch to the truck in the first place. Having the new switch in the off position is a great theft deterrent because absolutely nothing will work on the trailer.

The converter or truck will only charge the battery or batteries connected by the switch. I seldom use both batteries together (only if using the inverter). I switch back and forth between the batteries every week or so, to keep both charged and cycled. This way if I kill a battery or one fails, I have a spare ready to go at the twist of a switch. Going through the 1+2 position rather than the off position means that any 12V memory functions never lose power.
